Weekly group meetings
As a LighterLife Counsellor you’ll offer your
clients a weekly group meeting. You’ll need to make the
atmosphere relaxed and do your best to make everyone feel
welcome and secure enough to talk openly about their relationship
with food.
The meetings are single-sex and, with no more
than 12 people in a group, you’ll be able to give all your clients
the support they need to stay focused on their weight-loss goal and
motivated to succeed.
You’ll weigh clients discreetly and take their
measurements. You’ll also sell clients their Foodpacks and
additional items such as LighterLife Water Flavourings and the
LighterLife Magazine.
Each week you’ll lead an activity designed to
help your clients understand why they overeat so they can then
change their behaviour. You’ll use techniques from transactional
analysis (TA) and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Both
are used widely within the NHS.
"It's really important my clients feel they can trust me.
Helping people feel confident enough to speak openly about
their relationship with food certainly keeps me on my
toes." Lindsey Thompson - Wright, LighterLife Counsellor in
Loughton and Waltham Abbey since 2004

LighterLife Counsellor Lisa, runs a weekly group meeting for her
